After coming off what can be arguably said was a consistent Summer, in the next 6 weeks daylight savings will be gone, and we will be staring down the cooler months.

We eat differently when we cook outside.  Not so much of the heavy stodgy foods like stews, casseroles and pasta but lighter meat and salad combinations which tend to leave us feeling lighter but satisfied.

So how do we hold onto those good eating habits in the cooler months but manage to stay warm?

Infratech electric outdoor heating is the answer.  Infratech has heating units that are made from 100% recyclable materials. They do not emit any greenhouse gases, nor do they release any odours or ultraviolet light which can be harmful as it is a form of UV radiation.

Infrared technology distributes an even, ambient heat that will not be overpowering or have you huddled around the element.  Infratech heaters have a Quartz heating element which provides an environmentally clean, safe wavelength of light that is absorbed only be solid objects as opposed to heating the air.

If you have outdoor blinds, your pergola can virtually become another living area attached to the house.  You can essentially eat outside all year round.

Outdoor Living in Australia

The leaves start to turn to yellow and we can no longer rely on the weather to be mild, or the days long. The colder months are on the way.  You may be thinking “I don’t want to stop having the outdoor dinners we had with friends and family this Summer”.  Well, the good news is you don’t have to. Here are a few tips from on-trend designers to make your outdoor dining opportunities endless, no matter what the season.

Keeping it Warm

It’s imperative to maintain a comfortable temperature for your outdoor area, so you can ensure all year round use. As we’ve shown, Infrared Heaters undoubtedly do this the best. Once you have that side of it sorted, we move on to the crowd favourite of an outdoor fireplace.

There is no bad side to outdoor fireplaces.  Even when they are not on, they still create a feeling of coziness and comfort.  An outdoor fireplace makes your outdoor entertaining area usable any time of year.  If you don’t have a chimney you can always invest in a chimenea, firepit or radiant wall mounted heater.  Infratech has a wide range of designs and sizes to complement any outdoor area.

Freshen up

There are several different ways to zhoosh up a tired area.  You can totally change up the mood and feeling by using different table clothes, cushions, candle ware, flower arrangements, anything that isn’t a permanent fixture can have a change of colour or location.

Outdoor furniture

Is it time to replace that old outdoor furniture?  There are a couple of options.  If you invested in a good outdoor setting initially, perhaps you can consider renovating the setting by covering it in a new fabric or restraining the existing wood.  If you are after a totally different style you need to remember a few fundamentals.  Make sure all cushions and wood are weatherproof and UV rated.  If you are not using the area all year round, consider covers which will protect the furniture and extend its life.

Built in outdoor kitchen

If you are starting your outdoor area from scratch or have a large space to work with, perhaps consider a built-in outdoor kitchen.  If you are looking to install gas appliances, consider whether you want to be on mains gas as opposed to bottled gas.  If you want to be on mains you will need the connection put in before anything else is started.  If you want to have a sink as well, you will need to have plumbing connections installed.  An outdoor sink is not so much for being able to do the dishes outside, it is more for hand washing and intermittent water use.  The idea of having an outdoor built-in kitchen is you want to avoid having to go back and forth inside as much as possible.  Visit an outdoor cooking specialist.  They will have information and advice on options you haven’t even considered.  What appliances are you thinking of?  A smoker as well as a BBQ, an oven, a stove top?  Consider the way you cook for a crowd and try to incorporate everything you need.  You may regret it if you cut things out to try to stay on budget so design wisely!

Outdoor blinds

A fantastic way to keep the wind out and the temperature up in your patio area is to install outdoor blinds.  Well manufactured blinds look good and complement your outdoor entertaining area.  It doesn’t just need to be an entertaining area for friends, with the versatility of blinds it can be an extra living area for the kids, a new playroom for toddlers or even a hobby room.  With outdoor blinds your options are endless.

Infrared Heating

Infratech heating units are made from 100% recyclable materials.  Great news for the environmentally conscious.  They do not release any greenhouse gases, nor do they emit any odours or ultraviolet light which can be harmful as it is a form of UV radiation.

Most outdoor areas cannot contain or recirculate unless they have a heater which provides radiant heat.  Infrared technology means heat that is emitted warms up surface areas safely, including furniture and people.  It is a pleasant ambient heat which allows you to enjoy the outdoors the same way you would the indoors.  It is a practical way to heat patios, veranda’s, pergolas and outdoor entertaining areas.

Infrared technology distributes an even, ambient heat that will not be overpowering or have you huddled around the element.  Infratech heaters have a Quartz heating element which provides an environmentally clean, safe wavelength of light that is absorbed only be solid objects as opposed to heating the air.

They also provide a low-hi glow which will blend with any décor.  Other heating options such as short-wave or halogen heaters emit a bright, beaming light which can be distracting.

Gas heaters and wood fires produce harmful gases into the air making them a burden on the environment.  On the whole, gas heaters are 50% less efficient and produce a level of carbon monoxide and other harmful gases as a by-product of combustion and the effects of burning gas.  A good news environment story in that infrared technology converts 90% of its input to pure radiant heat.  It is also the most cost-effective of any form of heating.

Not only are they efficient outdoors, Infratech heaters can also be installed indoors as well.  They do not create any noise and do not require ventilation.

Wall Mounted Heating

Here are 6 benefits of outdoor heating you may appreciate:

Create a whole new room

When we think of outdoor heating we imagine capitalising in our outdoor area.  People don’t use their outdoor entertaining area as much in Winter as they do in Summer, even with Infratech outdoor heaters.  Start with the idea that your outdoor area does not necessarily need to be the adult entertaining area.  Consider putting in blinds to give it the feeling of a true separate room.  Here are some innovative ideas that can make the area usable all year-round.

Create a teenager’s retreat

Why not make it the second living area?  You could set up a gaming for the kids with a TV and gaming console and a few bean bags.  If they are currently doing this in your inside living area you may like to relocate them and reclaim the loungeroom as your own.  Add the blinds, turn the Infratech heaters on and you’ll forget the kids are even home.  Great for when their friends come over as well.

Set up a playroom for little people

You could also turn it into a play area where younger kid’s toys can be stored away as well as tossed about and messes can be made.  You could put some rubber flooring down so it is easier on knees and feet.  Again, add the blinds and Infratech heating and you can use the room all the time.

Adult time

How about having a girls’ night without leaving the house, everyone can come to you, even in the middle of Winter.  You could have a book club meeting, a committee meeting, a movie night or just some drinks and nibbles.

Camping at home

Are the kids desperate for a backyard camp out?  No prob.  Grab the mattresses and sleeping bags.  You get to have all the fun of the outdoors minus the cold thanks to your outdoor heated area.  They will still be able to see the stars and hear their surroundings.

Less mess

Another added benefit of your newly transformed outdoor area is any mess stays outside.  Why is it when the kids have a friend or two over the whole house ends up being a mess?  Send them out the back, even at night time.

Hopefully, this has given you some inspiration to use your outdoor area in different forms, at different times of the year, at different stages or yours and your families’ life.  Infratech outdoor heating may be the answer to your space challenges at home.

Infratech Infrared Heating

Infrared Heating – Get to know the Technology!

The scientific explanation of infrared heating is that a radiant heating vessel with a high heat transfers energy to a body with a lower heat through electromagnetic radiation.

Outdoor Heaters - What You Need to Ask?

Outdoor Heaters – What You Need to Know!

Gas or Electric Outdoor heaters – Which should I choose?

When it comes to outdoor heating, aesthetically, electric heaters are more pleasing to the eye, they are inconspicuous and radiate a warming, convection heat that dispersers further than gas.

They are very easy to operate, simply flick the switch and operation begins.  No guessing as to when the gas bottle is going to run out.

Electric heaters are easy to maintain, are lightweight and easy to install.

Can I use a gas heater inside?

No.  This is incredibly dangerous and should never be considered.  Electric heating is the only option in an enclosed area but also a very desirable choice for outside dining as well.

What is more economical, gas or electric outdoor heating?

Electric is a much better option.  Electric heating doesn’t have nearly the amount of moving parts as gas.  You also need to consider the ignition parts, gas specific valves and burners that gas heating requires.  The parts all need maintenance and repair at some stage, all of which add up to an ongoing consumer cost.  Also, the cost of changing the gas bottle continuously is not applicable.

Is electric heating safer than gas heating?

Electric heating can be mounted on a wall or higher up near ceiling level.  This will stop any chance of someone burning their clothes or body.  This is a major consideration if children are around.  Electric is also safer than gas as there is no possibility of any leaks which could lead to explosion and or fire.  There are no fumes or smells emitted from an electric heater.

Is outdoor heating environmentally friendly?

Electric outdoor heaters are very environmentally friendly.  They do not emit any gases, odours or greenhouse gases.

Their products and packaging are 100% recyclable.

They offer many different sizes so product and space are not wasted with units that are too big for the designated area.

How do I work out how many heaters I’ll need?

Refer to the Infratech website www.infratechheaters.com.au for a more concise guide.  Infratech is also happy to work with you to design a system specific to your needs.
